The Gospel According To Mark (Mark) was the first of the four "Gospels" of the New Testament and was written approximate three decades after the events chronicling the life of Jesus of Nazareth. Mark's author is unknown and was not an eyewitness to the events chronicled in the book. Mark was written in Greek—Jesus and his followers would have spoken Aramaic. Mark is the shortest gospel and was a source text for the Matthew and Luke.
